I know it is way too early to start thinking about happy hour, but on Saturday B and I headed to Escondido, California in Northern San Diego County to tour the Stone Brewery Co. and I must tell you all about our fun trip. Escondido means hidden in Spanish and I have to say this brewery was definitely hidden. But when you go in....WOW it is a party ! The mood is super jovial, everybody is happy and it is indeed a great place to hang out. The decor is very cool ironwork and stone, kind of rustic hipster let's say...
After our tour it was definitely time to eat, so we started out with "Stinky Cheese Platter." Wine and cheese go hand in hand, so we were curious to see what the offerings would be for a beer pairing. It was indeed "a little bit of this and a little bit of that", and it helped tide us over until our food came.
Since we ate around 3pm, our choices were limited to the "In Between Menu" and as you can see we had the Mac & Beer Cheese as well as the Sausage with cabbage. Our favorite was the sausage. Muy tasty.
We were led on a tour by our trusty guide Phil, who was the neatest cat. The tour was not too much more than what you see above, but Phil did such a great job of entertaining and educating the crowd. As an educator, he inspired me to bring his kind of energy and cheer to the classroom sans beer of course!
Like I said, this place was other wordly kind of like Narnia. In what appears to be some boxy office building is a fabulous bistro, brewery, tasting area, gift shop and wonderful gardens. After our tour it was definitely time to eat, so we started out with "Stinky Cheese Platter." Here at sealaura we like to take you along on many adventures, sometimes it's beaches, wineries, BBQ joints, but always in the name of enjoying life and exploring the hidden gems in our area. The Stone Brewery Co is no longer Escondido to us, and we highly recommend you pay it a visit if you are ever in San Diego.
¡Salud!
Such fun!
