Jellies, Living Art

Jellyfish are not usually popular with beach lovers.  But when I saw these Spotted Jellyfish at the Monterey Aquarium, I found them to be so beautiful and mesmerizing, that I had to "capture" them, at least in my photos.
These beauties live in the South Pacific, can you blame them?  They love the warm water and get their color from algae living in its tissues.  I loved watching their movement and their brownish/mustardy color appealed to my fashion senses.  I can see why jellyfish have inspired many artists, in fact, the exhibit was called "Jellies, Living Art."  This exhibit recently closed but it remains online, so check it out!   I hope you find these pictures as soothing and inspiring as I did.

I took similar pictures of jellyfish at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. They are all upside down in my pictures too! I wonder why they swim like that...

I am fascinated with the under sea world.
These are out of this world for sure.
Made me smile instantly.

Hi Laura! Thank you for the sweet comment on the loss of our Grandad. I have missed blogging. I can't wait to get back into things and be happy :)
Love the jellies - they truly are beautiful.
