¡Buenos dias! How was your weekend? I had a great Saturday going down memory lane and showing B where I went to college. Well, in case you haven't guessed I did my undergraduate work @Whittier College, home of the poets! Yep, our mascot is a poet, ha ha!
Whittier is about 20 minutes east of Los Angeles but it has a slower pace than LA, way slower. So here are some of the landmarks in Uptown Whittier that definitely took me back in time for bit. I saw Pulp Fiction in this movie, theatre , isn't it darling?
How about a burger on a late college night? This sign is so cool. To me, Whittier has an old time feel, kind of a 50s feel. Uptown Whittier is a fun place to come and have lunch, watch a movie and do a little shopping. I think Whittier has seen better days, but haven't we all? I am hopeful things will turn around and this little town will get it's pep back. Don't get me wrong, it is still a sweet little town but it seemed to be in a bit of a transition.
Hope you enjoyed this little tour. I love the way certain buildings and landmarks transport us back in time. Do you have any favorite landmarks?

ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I'd love to watch a movie in an old cinema like that :)
ReplyDeleteThat signage at the top looks like it lights up at night - how lovely that must look! Love that clock too - we don't get groovy things like that here in Sydney! Happy week to you!

I was born in Whittier hospital, but never lived there. My parents lived in La Habra when my mom was pregnant with me, but moved to South Bay before I was born. They went back to that hospital to have me. I grew up visiting Whittier and La Habra alot though, because I had lots of relatives there.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
The downtown Whittier area is lovely... LOVE old downtowns!
