A must stop in the Carribean is the Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke. Jost Van Dyke is a very casual laid back island, so it makes sense that it is the home of the Soggy Dollar.
The captain on our chartered boat the "Bad Kitty" told us we had to swim to get to the bar. This had me picturing Janet and I doggy paddling our way to Jost and that BTW is how the bar gets it's name. Your dollars might get soggy as you swim to shore since there is no dock at this world famous destination. However the "swim" is more like wading through beautiful blue waters. The water was waist high and my dollars did not get soggy.
¿Could you use a Painkiller this friday afternoon?
According to the
Soggy Dollar Website, a Painkiller requires : "The correct concoction of premium dark Rum, Cream of Coconut, Pineapple and Orange Juice (proportions are secret), topped with fresh grated Grenadian Nutmeg makes the swim (no dock) to the Soggy Dollar Bar worth the effort."
The Ring Game. This game seems to keep people pretty entertained as they hold their painkiller in one hand and try to throw the hook with the other. My favorite thing about this unnassuming little bar is that it brings so many people together. It seems like you have an instant connection with whomever you meet that has also experienced this happy little place. Thanks for all your encouragement about my kitchen adventures and for my sleepless night last week. Muchas gracias! How about a little time by the water relaxing this weekend? Enjoy!
