An outing to Palm Springs was my last hurrah before the long weekend was over. Palm Springs is about 1 hour from Redlands and it is truly an oasis. I love the 1950s feel about it, especially with the architecture of some of the old homes. Like most towns, it is suffering a bit from the slow economy so you will find closed shops and then a really cool shop along Palm Canyon Way. There is also a great variety of restaurants to enjoy. I recommend the Kalura Trattoria and also stopping by the tapas lounge Azul. You can sit outside one these fun swing type booths and enjoy a little people watching.
Palm Spring definitely lives up to its name with palm trees everywhere but you will also be amazed by the beautiful mountains that frame this desert community.

Lastly, I could certainly understand why Don Quixote confused windmills for ferocious giants coming to attack him and Sancho Panza. DQ saw his windmills at dawn and I saw these at dusk and they were a beautiful sight.
PS This picture does NOT do the sight justice.
