We snuck out of the Texas Tropics and landed in Utah for the week. I am super impressed with Utah, there are some amazing views, everyone is super nice and wow, what a clean city.  Our first stop was over at Antelope Island.  When I heard the word "island" I knew I had to check it out and boy it did not disappoint!
To get here we crossed the 7 mile causeway, which led us to the most stunning views.  These pictures are nice but they just don't even begin to show you the majestic beauty all around this area.  The island is surrounded by the Great Salt Lake and is also a great destination for birdwatching and more.  As you can see in the first picture, there are bison roaming freely in the area which were first introduced in the 1880s.   The bison have gone from being hunted to now being protected and cared for by the state. The name for this island comes from John C. Fremont and Kit Carson.  These men were  the first non-natives to visit the island and the "story" says they shot a pronghorn antelope for food and in gratitude for this meal they named the island after the antelope.
The reflection of the mountains in the Great Salt Lake is just unreal.
Lastly if you can give me a minute here to celebrate my Irish winning against USC on Saturday, I am just over the moon!  Number #1 baby!
Have you ever visited Utah?
