Did you know that the symbol of an anchor can be used to signify 'fresh start' or 'hope'?  ( particularly with the anchored cross or mariner's cross).  Well it seems fitting to have an anchor post at the start of the year, now doesn't it?  Today I want to show you some more that I spotted on the Central Coast.  This first one is my favorite because of the beautiful turquoise color.   The sign next to it says  "Old bronze anchor that was brought up from the bottom of Monterey Bay in July 1944.  Origin Unknown"
This second one, I believe is outside the Welcome Center.  But correct me if I am wrong!
anchor is ancla en español
ancre en français
how about one more little fact : "The phrase "anchor's aweigh" is a report that the anchor is clear of the sea bottom and, therefore, the ship is officially underway." (source here)

These last two get honorable mentions, not as cool as the first one, but they still caught my eye.  These were outside the Sea Shanty Restaurant in Cayucos.  They have a fabulous breakfast there, by the way!
