Hello there! It is a clear beautiful morning here in my part of SoCal and I am so excited. Today I want to show you a little beach nook near Laguna. Cress Street Beach is a great spot to relax and enjoy the surf. B is a former navy diver so we came here because we heard it is an excellent location for diving. There is an exposed reef close to shore and if you are not a diver, bring your snorkel and a wet suit, like most beaches in Cali, the water is cold.
As far as facilities, there's a bench and the stairs that take you down to the beach and that's it! There are local hotels but mostly house rentals so either you sneek into a hotel (did I say that?) or don't have a big gulp before you get here. The pic above is from the beautiful La casa del camino (built in 1929) which is on the corner of PCH and Cress Street.
One of the reason why this beach is such a jewel is because parking is limited. WAY limited!! There are only a few metered parking spots so get here early and bring your quarters. This means less people and voilá! the beach is all yours. I enjoyed spending the early morning here reading and taking in the ocean air. Once you've run out of quarters or have to "go" (no baños remember!) you can easily head over to a great little spot for lunch or shopping. And if you are on budget cuts, like most of us : KFC baby! It is just down the street, just keeping it real dahlings!
How do you "keep it real" at the beach? :)
