It's wedding season and Beach House Living's silverware might be just the thing to add a little sparkle to a bride's special day. BHL is my new sponsor and I want to introduce you to the owner and creator Rita.
What inspired you to start Beach House Living?
About a year ago it dawned on me what was missing in my life....creating! I just stopped for about 7-8 years after making all sorts of things from the time I was a kid. My mother said please this time, sell it, don't give it away.
You have a fabulous collection of vintage garden markers, what are some future BHL projects for the shop?
The bridal ones were the largest recent edition but I would like to do more of the artwork type like the ones with the starfish and seahorse. Back to making jewelry, my sail bags, and getting time to clean and solder antique bottles that have been sitting for almost a year I think, silvering shells ... I have loads of ideas written in a notebook.
You also seem to be a bit of a francophile with your Paris/French collection, how did that come about?
At my work a brand we carry are French products but, I think it's more their lifestyle that I find attractive. Long lunches, afternoon naps etc. I like how they never gave a thought to the chipped or rusted as being stylish it's just part of who they are. What smells says summer to you?

Coconut lime combination but I don't like to eat anything with coconuts. I think I had my fill in the islands.
What is your favorite beachy destination?
That's a hard one. I lived in the Virgin Islands when I was child yet, I like Sanibel, FL
Favorite meal to have at the beach? Good old jumbo shrimp cocktail served on a bed of baby lettuces with a light honey mustard dressing or balsamic type concoction... and a nice glass of wine or a Margarita up no salt made with really good tequila.
