B and I have fallen in love with Cayucos and looked into schools for Norm because we could see ourselves calling this charming town home. Unlike many beach towns I have visited, Cayucos is very unassuming, the people are super friendly and you don't feel like you have to spend a small fortune to have a good time. B and I rented a little cottage and made many of our meals at home. We found our cottage on craigslist and again I know it sounds scary but there are so many good things and good people trying to make ends meet via craigs. You have to be careful, and do your homework (maybe I will write a post about this!) Our host here, is the nicest grandfather, who was kind enough to offer us a super deal. Check out our view, we are just steps from the beach!

The downtown is so über cute! It is so untainted. Lots of mom and pop stores, cute surf shops, antiques galore, thrift stores, yummy restaurants and independent coffee shops.
There are no shortage of wineries in this area . B and I stopped at the Cayucos Cellars in their little downtown tasting room. A flight is only 5 bucks, can you believe it? Back home, tastings are at least 20 bucks but here we found some for as cheap as $3!
Cayucos is the perfect place to spend a weekend, apart from being a great relaxing town, it is also centrally located from many other fun stops. In the coming days, I will share with you our visits to Arroyo Grande, Cambria, Morro Bay, Paso Robles and the famous Hearst Castle. Stay tuned...
